BEIRUT TEMPORARY LANDSCAPES
Our design proposal seeks to mitigate the profound issue of displacement that has impacted the majority of the Lebanese population, particularly in the South, the Bekaa and in Beirut’s southern district: Dahye, as a result of the Lebanese–israeli conflict.
In a country where no clear system of shelters exists for people who lose their homes, we suggest reactivating Beirut’s underutilized and abandoned open spaces as temporary landscapes of refuge. Within these sites, displaced communities could build their own shelters from accessible and repurposed materials, creating spaces that offer safety and a pathway toward reintegration, while permanent homes are rebuilt.
THE PLATFORM
Our open platform presents our designs across different contexts and types of open spaces found in Lebanon. Through each visual, we explore unique materialities and situations. Our platform is a work in progress, an evolving collective vision.
We welcome young designers, like us, to share their ideas and collaborate with us, so that together we can build a stronger future for our communities.
